Palmyra-Eagle School District and Standard Process Inc. Partner to Build Sports Complex

On June 25, the Palmyra-Eagle Board of Education gathered for a special meeting to approve a naming rights agreement. Palmyra-Eagle Area School District in partnership with Standard Process Inc. will embark on a project that will benefit the health and wellness of the students as well as the greater Palmyra-Eagle community. Plans were approved by the school board to build a sports complex on the grounds of the Palmyra-Eagle High School/Middle School with full financial support of Standard Process. In this agreement, Standard Process will retain naming rights of the new facilities for a period of 25 years and will underwrite the entire cost of the project estimated at one million dollars.  The Standard Process Athletic Complex will boast a baseball diamond, softball diamond, several soccer fields, and a new concession stand and will be available for use by local community groups.

The project has been several years in the works. Charlie DuBois, president of Standard Process Inc. said, “Years ago, we began discussing specific needs of the community with the school district and the park and rec department because we believe in giving back and sharing our success.” DuBois spoke further about the project, “It’ll be fun and exciting to make this dream come true for the community, especially the kids. Standard Process is proud to support the health and development of the children who live in this area. It fits perfectly with our mission of improving the quality of life. And, because many of the kids who will reap the rewards of this project are our employees’ children, it is doubly rewarding. We’ve been fortunate to have the opportunity to support the school district for years, including the theater’s stage and curtains, scoreboards, and basketball hoops, but this is taking it to a whole new level.”

School District Superintendent Glenn Schlender talked about the community benefits of the partnership stating, “Whenever a public school district and a local business can work together for the benefit of children and community members it's a win-win for everyone.  I am very pleased and excited to be able to work with Standard Process on this project.” Schlender went on to say, “The original intent from Standard Process was to create something that would benefit the most people in the community.  Given the school district's and the Palmyra Park and Recreation Department's participation numbers in soccer, baseball and softball, this athletic complex will certainly benefit many children and adults.”

Nicholas Schultek, principal at the High School/Middle School commented, “We could not be more honored and thankful for the generosity of Standard Process in this project.  Standard Process is creating something for our school district and communities that we would otherwise not have the means to explore.  These are not just ball diamonds and soccer fields, they are an opportunity to come together as communities to celebrate our student athletes, our youth programs, and the pride we all have in our school district.”

Charlie DuBois expressed his enthusiasm to begin construction, “I am very eager to see the Standard Process Sports Complex project get underway, and I can’t wait to throw out the first pitch, have a hot dog at the concession stand, and watch a soccer game!”

A date for groundbreaking on the project will be established once all necessary pre-construction permits are secured.
