Gifted and Talented

The Palmyra-Eagle Area School District provides services for our talented and gifted students in five different areas:

  •  Intellectual (Intuitive Knowledge)

  • Academic (School Knowledge)

  • Creativity (Divergent Production or Creative Writing)

  • Leadership

  • Performing Arts (Visual Art, Music-Vocal/Instrumental, Drama, Physical Education)

An annual identification sweep occurs in grades K-12.  K-12 enrichment opportunities exist within each classroom.  At the high school, many enrichment opportunities and programs exist for all students.  Students may also participate in a variety of advanced placement classes and extracurricular opportunities.

With the advent of RTI, we will be identifying gifted and talented students through that screening process and will also use a nomination system for all five areas of Gifted and Talented education.  Plans are developed for each identified students by a team of teachers who meet on a regular basis to determine flexible groupings for all students.  The district also belongs to the Whitewater Talented and Gifted Network, who provide many programs for students who benefit from enrichment activities.
