PEASD safety meeting attendees

The Palmyra-Eagle Area School District (PEASD) continues to showcase its leadership in school safety and community engagement by convening community leaders, local experts, and district staff for its Safety Networking Meeting on January 17, 2025. This event underscores PEASD’s ongoing commitment to fostering a safe, supportive, and well-connected environment for students, staff, and the broader community.

Building on the success of previous sessions, including the August 2024 meeting, this gathering focused on critical topics such as:

  • Expanding the district’s safety team and formalizing roles at each school site.

  • Reviewing the Wisconsin Association of School, County, and City Administrators (WASCCA) safety audit findings and incorporating actionable feedback.

  • Exploring updates on the Department of Justice’s Standard Response Protocol (SRP) and opportunities provided by the digital mapping grant.

  • Enhancing staff training initiatives, including the launch of a Monthly 15-Day Challenge to reinforce safety practices.

PEASD Superintendent Dr. Ryan Krohn emphasized the importance of these collaborative efforts:

“Our commitment to student and staff safety remains steadfast. By leveraging the collective expertise of our community partners and internal team, we can continue to enhance our protocols and create a model of excellence for school safety and community collaboration.”

The meeting also provided a forum for:

  • Brainstorming innovative community events to further strengthen engagement.

  • Identifying additional key contacts to expand the district’s safety network.

  • Gathering stakeholder feedback to refine plans for the 2024-2025 and 2025-2026 school years.

PEASD’s commitment to safety planning is evident in its dedication to hosting Semi-Annual Safety Networking Meetings. The next session is scheduled for May 9, 2025, ensuring consistent collaboration and progress.

Community members interested in contributing to these critical discussions or joining the district’s safety initiatives are encouraged to contact Shawn Olson at the PEASD District Office.
